This is a pretty excellent shot of the Little Quarter and Castle district, looking across the river Vltana, with The Charles Bridge in the foreground. The ancient fortress was started in the year 870 and was addedd to for 800 years. The walled complex you see includes Royal palaces, government buildings, A Catherdral, a Basilica, Dungeons, jailhouses, the alchemists quarters and a whole medeival town!
Church of Our Lady before Tyn in Old Town Square.
Charles Bridge. Commission by Charles IV in 1357 when the previous bridge was destroyed by floods. It is 1706 ft long, and addorned with relgious sculptures down both sides. Above, the Old Town Bridge Tower and a view of the bridge from the tower, then some of the sculptures. It is a pedestrian bridge now linking The Little Quarter and the Old Town, and all along there are peddlers and musicians. I crossed back on forth many times and was fascinated every time..
Walking along the river towards the Charles Bridge on the Old Town side. On the right is the Little Quarter, the very old area that sprang up at the foot of the Prague Castle fortress. At the top of the hill you see the castle.
Reaching the Little Quarter side of the Bridge, These Towers are leftover from the previous bridge, built in 1158.
St. Norbert, St. Wenceslas, St. Sigismund
This is Lia, a fellow metalhead I met at the Party San festival. She lives in Prague and took me around sightseeing the second day I was there. We had a great time hanging out and I hope to see and hang out with her again some day!
Saint Vitus Cathedral, the current gothic building was started in 1344 and lasted almost a thousand years.. This is the third incarnation of a church on this spot, the first was started by St. Wenceslas in 925, and the ruins can be seen on the tour of the underground crypts.
The Renaissance Bell Tower is open to the public, and, I climbed to the top, all 287 steps! I almost died, haha.
The front Fascade of Saint Vitus. Here also is a  side view, enlarge and count the gargoyles! (how many do you see)? 'Good King' Wenceslas is entombed inside St Vitus, as is King Charles IV.
The Royal Mausleum, the tombs of Ferdinand I and his wife and son are located at the front of the Chancelry.
The castle gates. This is where you enter the complex. It's huge, I spent about 5 hours touring everything there. The Czech President also has his office here in the castle complex.
The underground ruins of the first rotunda and Basilica can be seen if you go down to the crypts...yes, there are crypts too!
The jewel encrusted tomb of Saint Wenceslas. Too bad the picture is so dark!
Above: This is the tomb of Saint John Nepomuk. It is crafted from solid silver and was  made in 1736. Above right: The Vaulted ceilings of the Chancelry.
One of the Stained glass windows.

Vladislav Hall, the 'Royal court' in the Royal Palace. Prague castle was the seat of Bohemian Princes from the 11th century on. During the period of Habsburg rule, the palace housed government offices, courts, and the old Bohemian Diet (parliment). The throne room is located in the diet. Above: two views of Prague from the balcony outside of the Hall.
